Engaging Students in Discussion (for Faculty)
A 60-minute workshop for Columbia Faculty.
How do I get students to engage with each other in class discussions? How can I keep the conversation going between class sessions? How can I create a space in which my students feel comfortable sharing?
This session addresses these questions by exploring a four-step planning process to help ensure that students engage in and learn from discussions, and that they leave with clear takeaways. Participants will have an opportunity to reflect on their current practices around discussion preparation and facilitation, as well as identify potential changes they might implement going forward.
