Engaging Students with Ed Discussion (for Instructors)
A 30-minute demo sessions for Columbia Faculty and Graduate student instructors.
Would you like a discussion space that encourages student-initiated discussion and fosters classroom community? Do you need a space where students can annotate each other’s images? Want an online platform where you can easily organize large numbers of posts, such as megathreads with resolvable comments?
Experience a short demonstration of Ed Discussion, an online discussion platform that is integrated into CourseWorks and can be used for asynchronous discussions or synchronously such as a backchannel for live in-person classes. This will be followed by opportunities to ask questions and to reflect on how you might intentionally integrate Ed Discussion into your teaching context. Note: Ed Discussion is especially useful for large courses where students are engaged in collaborative problem solving, posting equations and code, and Q&A exchanges.
